Chef Lulu Duran of Cesar’s Killer Margaritas was recently featured in a Redfin article sharing her tips for places to explore in Chicago over the weekend. When asked about weekend recommendations in Chicago, she shared a few destination tips that combine culture, nature, and hidden gems.
“For a cultural experience, the Museum of Science and Industry is a great option, and don’t miss their beautiful Japanese gardens,” Lulu says. Located in Hyde Park, this iconic museum offers immersive exhibits for all ages—and the peaceful Garden of the Phoenix nearby is a serene bonus.
Another one of Chef Lulu’s top Chicago weekend exploration tips is visiting the National Museum of Mexican Art, located in Pilsen. “It offers insightful exhibitions and a shop with unique Mexican items,” Lulu notes. It’s one of the most prominent Latino cultural institutions in the country and admission is free.
While spots like Navy Pier and the Lincoln Park Zoo are well-loved by tourists, Chef Lulu also highlights some lesser-known gems. The Winter Garden atop the Harold Washington Library is a quiet, sunlit space perfect for relaxing above the city bustle. The Bahá’í House of Worship in Wilmette features stunning architecture and peaceful gardens open to all.
From vibrant museums to tranquil retreats, Chef Lulu’s weekend tips showcase a side of Chicago that’s full of culture, charm, and discovery.
